Emerson Hospital - SCORE
Concord, MA
PROJECT INFORMATION
This project consisted of two additions to the existing hospital and extensive demolition and retrofitting of existing areas within the main building. New areas included Operating Rooms, a Radiology Suite, a Maternity Floor, a PACU, and a Post Operative Care Unit. Throughout construction, the hospital’s services had to remain in operation.
HVAC
Two 50,000 CFM custom air handling units were installed in the new penthouse. These air handling units were twinned together feeding into common supply and return duct systems. A new 600 ton chiller was installed in the new chilled water plant, and an existing 400 ton chiller was disassembled and relocated to the new plant. New steam-to-hot water heat exchangers were installed to provide hot water to FTR, air handlers, VAV boxes, and micellaneous HW heating devices. A 10,000 gallon fuel oil tank was installed under the parking lot of the new Birthing Center, providing fuel oil to all emergency generators. A new hot water plant was constructed to serve the new addition. A new chilled water plant was constructed to serve the new addition, and was also tied into the existing chilled water plant for redundancy and back-up.
